I love to play

I have many little baskets and a wooden bowl full of little toys and kitchen utensils for Aoife to play with. She loves to sit there and pull out each object one by one, chew it and then throw it away.

I love animals

This weekend we took Aoife to the pet store to look at the animals. When I take her for walks in her stroller, she likes to look up at the telephone wires at the birds. She can also follow birds flying in the air. Every time we see a dog, she flaps her arms and legs and starts to squeal. She liked watching the birds in their cages and we even got the chance to speak with a parrot. See the picture above where she is flapping her arms like the birds!

I am now allowing Aoife to feed herself more and more. It's very messy, but she is so good at using her pincher finger. I read that it is important to allow infants the time to feed themselves so that they can explore the food first hand and get used to feeding themselves for further independence.

President elect -BARAK OBAMA 2008

We woke up at 6:00am this morning so that Tim could go to the polls to vote for the next president of the United States. There was a great energy here from the people waiting in line as everyone was energized to vote for Obama. The line wasn't as long as we thought, but we were glad we got there so early. Aoife seemed to be very calm and confident about the whole deal.

It was a very anxious day. I went to work and most of the teachers wore blue and had badges. We had all pooled in our money to rent a boat for our escape to another country if Obama had lost, but thanks to the great campaign and the will of the people Obama won. It was a joyous occasion. This country can now move forward beyond shame and embarrassment to a brighter future with hope, patience, and integrity.
